BRC Global Standard developed by British Retail Consortium (British Retailers Association), a British trade organization which takes care of the interests of retailers in the UK, was created to establish a standard of care and supplier approval for food. The standard covers a wide range of product safety areas as well as the legal and required responsibilities of both the supplier and the retailer. Regardless of the product or country of origin, it is particularly suitable for organizations supplying food products to British retailers. In most cases, certification of this standard is prerequisite for sourcing British retailers.
